Housekeeping

Today I was supposed to head down to the sample sale held by MFN, but something shocking happened that stopped me from going - I had a sensible thought and made an even more sensible decision! The horror!

Here’s the thing, I have 2 wardrobes that are groaning under the sheer weight of all the clothes I pile in, a cupboard stuffed full of folded stuff like jeans and shirts, and 2 sets of 3 drawers teeming with nightwear and lingerie. That is in addition to the countless boxes of clothes in the spare room that need to be sorted and shoes littering the floor of my wardrobes and creating their own civilization under my bed. It was bad enough when it was just me, but when Alex moved in I had to cram his clothes and books and dvds in, when in all reality I needed triple the space just for myself. Its actually got to the point where my ironing/washing basket is perennially full, and thats a good thing, because if all my clothes are clean and available to wear, there just isn’t anywhere for them to go!

I decided to have a huge tidy up/clearout and make space for things. It doesn’t help that I am hopelessly messy, so that coupled with the fact that nothing really has a place is a somewhat toxic combination. For the time being (until the end of June-well, that is my aim) I am not going to buy any clothing except basics (I need more colourblock tees and sweaters- I swear!) unless it is an absolute bargain and I think holding back will mean me missing out in a gargantuan way. I have almost done rearranging my wardrobe and putting all the books, cds and dvds away in boxes until our living room is ready, and I have to say, my wardrobes are looking fabulous. I am planning on making a little video tour around my wardrobe on Tuesday or Wednesday, once its done, to post up here for you all to see.

Thanks to this self-imposed shopping ban, I am left to merely drool over clothes online. Here is what I would buy, should I be able to:

ivy league weekender (fredflare)

studded silk dress (french connection)

Ticking stripe pocked dress (ASOS)

2 in 1 belted dress (Kookai)

Colour block cami dress (Alexander Wang)

I like this because you can detach the skirt and wear it as a top.

Sea board dress (Marc by Marc Jacobs)
